Wat Kaew Korawaram is located in Krabi town and is well worth the visit for the great photo opportunities that abound. A beautiful example of Thai temple culture.
Wat Kaew Korawaram is considered the biggest temple in Krabi. Often overlooked by the more popular Tiger Temple, it still is worth a visit due to its dazzling white exterior. Located on a hill above the city’s downtown, it is conveniently located off one of the city’s main streets and greets you with a grand staircase lined by nāga sculptures. You will get to see many colourful frescoes telling the stories of Buddha and will enjoy walking through the long hallways. It is a great choice as it is less visited and therefore you can mostly enjoy this piece of Thai culture with just yourself.
A majestic staircase lined by golden Naga sculptures leads up to the 2,500sqm terrace on which the temple stands. Featuring different colours – white walls and dark blue tiled-roof – than standard Thai Buddhist temples (usually coloured in red and gold) Wat Kaew Korawaram’s ordination room features splendid wall paintings, a large Buddha statue, and some precious Buddha relics. On the temple terrace, visitors can find Wat Kaew Holy Amulets & Souvenir Shop, as well as food and drink stalls.
