If you are heading to Railay east beach, then you are most likely to stumble across Tew Lay Bar. Once there be prepared for beautiful mountain views accompanied by chilled music played from the bar counter. Then knock back some pleasant cocktails (about baht 200), and you are in for an experience that is completely refreshing and memorable! To date, not many people know about the place because of its secluded location, so best to get in while the going is good. Tew Lay Bar boasts a beautiful and tranquil setting amidst the greenery with amazing view of the Andaman Sea, mangroves and limestone hills of Railay, Krabi.
Getting There
If you are coming from Tonsai, take a long-tail boat ride from the beach to Railay. It costs THB300 to charter an entire boat. Else, the fare will be divided equally among the number of passengers present during the boat ride. The boatmen will only leave when there are enough people or when the whole sum is paid. It is relatively a straightforward path to Tew Lay Bar. Simply keep walking on the walkway until you past “The Last Bar” and its Muay Thai ring. Continue walking up the road, past the mangroves and you will see Tew Lay Bar sitting right in front of you
Everything about this bar says “relax”, like a call from the wilderness to your over tired and overstressed body. Succumb to embrace, and plonk yourself down in one of their wicker chairs. They serve food but the highlight would be the early evening drinks.
