Emerald Pools Krabi are a natural hot spring. Visitors can sit and enjoy them as well as the amazing natural colour.
Krabi Emerald Pools (Sa Morakot) which is in Klong Thom district is a unique attraction in Krabi. The water originates from deep underground, flowing freely from the thermal springs. It features fresh running spring water at a lovely 35-42C.
Getting There
Located in the jungle near the Khao Phra Bang Khram Nature Reserve, the Emerald Pools Krabi are located about fifty kilometers from Krabi or Ao Nang. Transports options include a very long motorbike ride, or a car hire. Another option is to join one of the many tours heading out there, often combining multiple local attractions.
From the parking lot, there are two routes to the Emerald Pool, the main road and the trail road. The trail way is quickly on the right after entrance. It is 1.4 km long but so much nicer that the big path going directly from entrance to the pool. You can reach the pool via trails through the Khao Nor Chu Chi forest. Walking distance is between 1.2-1.4 kms with no hard slopes.
Your journey to the pool offers a rare opportunity to take in the local wildlife. You will come across mini-pools, waterfalls and streams will be part of the scene, as well as all the flora to be viewed. This rainforest is also home to Gurney’s Pitta, a beautiful endangered songbird which was once thought to be extinct due to no field observations between 1952 and 1986.
