Krab Provincial Public Health revealed that the daily rising number of the COVID-19 cases found in the city, and more than 90% of it, is caused by the Omicron variant; as a result, the measure V-U-C-A has been imposed.
Dr. Chaiwat Thongmai, a public health doctor in Krabi province, stated that the epidemic of COVID-19 in 8 districts in Krabi province, according to the district and provincial disease investigation teams who proactively detect infected people, is aggravated by various gathering events within communities and clusters from students.
Most of those infected with the Omicron and Delta variant do not show symptoms because of 2 to 3 doses of vaccines they have received. On the other hand, those who show symptoms are reported to have received only the first dose of the vaccine.
Hospitals now still have enough beds for seriously-ill patients. For patients with mild illnesses or classified as the green group, home or community isolation is recommended. Meanwhile, patients who live in the community will be cared for by doctors and nurses with the same equipment, medicine, food as if they were in a hospital.
As for preventive measures after this, the V-U-C-A measure has been strictly imposed, namely V – Vaccine; complete doses for those who are at risk of infection, the elderly, and with personal diseases, U – Universal Prevention; strictly follow the guidelines of the Ministry of Public Health DMHTT, C – COVID Free Setting, and A – ATK check every week and instantly when in touch with the infected case.
Despite the rising number of COVID-19 cases daily, the bed situation and hospital readiness are still under control. Krabi residents, including visitors, however, should strictly keep 1-2 meter distance from others, wear a mask at all times, wash hands frequently, check the temperature, and check in and out through Thai Chana Application.
