Krabi welcomes first direct flight from Russia, bringing 164 tourists to Krabi

Krabi received the inaugural flight S7, flying directly from Novosibirsk city, Russia to Krabi Province, with 164 family travelers fleeing the cold to Thailand. 

On February 23, 2022, Mr. Somchai Hanpakdeepatima, Deputy Governor of Krabi, Mr. Uthit Limsakul, Director of the TAT Krabi Office, Ms. Kanchana Sing-um, TAT European Marketing Division, Mr. Attaporn Nueng-udom, Director of Krabi Airport Krabi Hotels Association, and related agencies welcomed the inaugural flight of S7 Airlines Flight 5713, which opened routes from Novosibirsk city Russia to Krabi for the first time. The flight was operated by an Airbus A321nx with 164 passengers, mostly family travelers coming from cities across Russia. S7 has one direct flight per week to Thailand, scheduled for every Wednesday throughout the winter through March.

Ms. Kanitha Phanworawat Director of Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), Moscow Office, discussed the next step of the marketing plan, “Since Thailand has opened up to tourists more than 57,000 Russian tourists entering Thailand, ranking number 1 among foreign tourists entering Thailand. From now on, TAT Moscow will expedite a campaign with the airline and partner travel agencies to organize activities to promote Thailand continuously until the beginning of May, which is another long holiday in Russia.

Although usually during this period, Russian tourists often choose to travel nearby or more in the country, TAT will try to promote a variety of tourist attractions, and various activities in Thailand, especially water activities which are the favorite of this target served in Krabi. The advantages of having direct flights from Russia to Krabi, including Thailand’s amazing food, friendliness, and the beautiful nature of Krabi Province revived during the COVID-19 pandemic, allow Russian tourists to increasingly choose Thailand and Krabi as their vacation destination.

Mr. Uthit Limsakul, Director of the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), Krabi office, added that in 2019, before the COVID pandemic, there were 6 airlines operating direct flights from major Russian ports to Krabi Province, totaling 63 flights with a total of 50,382 Russian tourists. Krabi was pleased that S7 Airlines had chosen Krabi as their new destination. With the inaugural flight of S7 Airlines today, it is believed that more Russian tourists will come to Thailand by choosing to fly directly to Krabi.

Moreover, Krabi province has the distinction of tourist attractions, sandy beaches. beautiful seaside There are various dive sites,  delicious seafood, and quality hotels that meet the preferences of Russian tourists. Since February 1, Russian tourists can travel to Krabi in both Test and Go and Sandbox options, giving them more flexible travel options than before. It is believed that tourist attractions in Krabi will provide an impressive experience for Russian tourists until Krabi will become their top tourist destination.
