Krabi is welcoming both Thai and foreign visitors to the city without quarantine, and a PCR test on the fifth day after entering the country.
The Coronavirus disease 2019 Control Center loosened a health measure for both Thai and foreign tourists entering the country without quarantine or sandboxing, and the second laboratory COVID test on the 5th day after entering the country last February 23. They are also asked to do a self-check or an ATK test and may reduce an insurance limit to at least $20,000 for all types of travel. Now, the new measure is effective, actually already starting since March 1, 2022.
The eligible travelers to this new measure must follow the following conditions;
- For arrivals by air and water: Fully vaccinated Thai citizens and foreign travellers from all countries/territories.
- For arrivals by land: Fully vaccinated Thai citizens and foreign travellers from neighbouring countries connecting with the reopened border checkpoints (Nong Khai, Udon Thani, and Songkhla)
Mr. Uthit Limsakul, Director of the Tourism Authority of Thailand, Krabi Provincial Office, revealed that the reduction of the measure to receive more tourists is considered beneficial to tour operators who are able to carry out more marketing activities, with TAT Krabi visiting the city to create awareness and prepare tourist attractions to support the whole system that supports tourists without quarantine and continuous sandboxing.
For the preparation of safety standards in ​​Krabi, there are now 1,514 SHA-certified operators/ SHA+ 957 and 231 SHA Extra+. Currently, there are 2 airlines that fly directly from abroad, namely Tiger Air. It operates direct flights from Singapore 3 flights per week and S7 Airlines from Russia 1 flight per week. The number of foreign tourists entering Krabi collected until February 24 is 3,435 people.
