Even though the long weekend ended last week, Thai and foreign tourists continue to travel to Krabi.
Ms. Sasithon Kittitornkul, president of Krabi Province Tourism Business Association notified that during the long vacation from May 13-16, the tourism atmosphere has changed. The various tourist attractions in Krabi were bustling with both Thai and foreign tourists. NTIT counted an entry by air and land between May 12 and 15 of 10,900 people with many Thai tourists in particular. Hotels were 67 percent occupied, a 50 percent decrease from the long vacation week during the Songkran Festival, generating revenue for entrepreneurs of 40-50 million baht. Maya Bay remains the destination where tourists travel the most. The reason for the decrease in the number of tourists is due to the onset of the monsoon season, the number of tourists is expected to decrease by another 20-30 percent.
