On June 6, 2022, at 3:30 pm, the Governor of Krabi Province assigned Deputy Governor Mr Somchai Harnpakdee Patima to visit the Krabi Provincial Agricultural Career Development and Promotion Center (Horticulture). This trip aims to monitor the results of the project funded by Krabi Province for the fiscal year 2021; the funding amounted to 2 projects.
The first one is the Plant Genetic Conservation, with a budget of 450,000 baht; the activity was built 3 greenhouses, aiming to become a conservation centre collecting rare plant species to provide learning opportunities for interested farmers.
The second is Promote and Develop Agricultural Careers for Alternative Ornamental Plants, with a budget of 1,235,600 baht; there are two activities in the project: 1) target to train 200 trainees, 2) Create a leaf-cutting of the foliage plant demonstration area, amounting to 1 plot in the centre’s area. There are 2,000 foliage mother plants, namely Philodendron (Saw Blade), Philodendron (Elephant’s Ear), Monstera Giant and Ipidang, Monstera (Siam), and Anthurium Leaf (Silver Thick), etc.
The projects aim to promote and develop the career in planting ornamental plants in Krabi, improve the technique and knowledge of farmers and those interested in planting ornamental plants, and create job or business opportunities. The projects have already completed procurement and preparation of the plots and plants.
