The Department of Labor will launch more than 130 new training programs for the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC).
This initiative is driven by a requirement of the economic sector that needs skills on technology, robotics and project management.
Mr. Suchart Chomklin told reporters that the training is being conducted as part of a national strategic plan initiated by the Thai government.
The minister added that officials are working on several development projects to further expand the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC), especially in certain areas of Chon Buri, Chachoengsao and Rayong, by bringing more training options that will provide various advanced skills to local workers.
The director general of the Department of Skills Development, Mr. Prateep Songlamyong, says the training programs are expected to provide 7,000 EEC staff members and some 200,000 employees with enhanced technological knowledge and new competencies useful for tourism development.
According to the general director, experts from leading government agencies, such as the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI) and the Thai Automation and Robotics Association (TARA), have been invited to contribute on the subject. TARA will also be responsible for organizing workshops on electric vehicle manufacturing, logistics automation through warehouse robot development and industrial robot programming.
