Tourism Authority of Thailand requests special budget to boost tourism

The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) said it intends to seek a budget of 1.03 billion baht from the ministry to help revitalize the kingdom’s tourism industry.

Mr. Yuthasak Supasorn the TAT governor, said that this budget will enable the kingdom to achieve its goal of generating 1.5 trillion baht in tourism revenue this year, despite the fact that these amounts are only 50% of tourism revenue in 2019.

The governor of TAT said 432 million baht will be used to promote tourism productions and activities, 450 million for the domestic market, 50 million for the Asia-Pacific market and 103.75 million for the European market.

Mr. Yuthasak Supasorn said the funding would be used to support the recovery of the airline industry, including a plan to increase the occupancy rate of each airline’s aircraft.

The Tourism Authority of Thailand will also launch advertising campaigns with airlines and hotels to increase flight load factors and hotel occupancy rates to encourage domestic tourism.

In addition, TAT plans to launch an operation to increase the number of passengers for tour bus operators who have been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
