Thailand-U.S. logistics cooperation strengthened

Thai Foreign Minister Don Pramudwinai and U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken signed two agreements last Sunday to strengthen supply chain and renewable energy cooperation to address bilateral, regional and international challenges between Thailand and the United States.

The Memorandum of Understanding on Promoting Supply Chain Resilience allows both sides to strengthen information sharing and dialogue to reduce supply chain weaknesses, minimize production and transportation disruptions, and ensure accessibility of critical goods to both countries and the global market.

The other agreement covers cooperation on renewable energy, including the promotion of clean and renewable technologies such as electric vehicles and carbon capture technology.

The U.S. Secretary of State visited Thailand after attending a G20 foreign ministers’ meeting in Bali, Indonesia. The G20 brings together heads of state, finance ministers, and central bank governors from industrialized and emerging countries once a year to facilitate international economic cooperation and propose solutions to various economic crises. It represents 85% of world trade, two-thirds of the world’s population and more than 90% of gross world product (the sum of the GDPs of all the countries in the world).
