Thailand has invited India’s PM to visit

Thailand has invited Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to visit the country in order to improve strategic and commercial ties.

The offer was issued at a meeting between Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha and India’s new ambassador to Thailand, Nagesh Singh, according to Government Spokesperson Anucha Burapachaisri.

Singh voiced his conviction that bilateral ties will continue to develop throughout his tenure because to the two countries’ deep cultural, linguistic, and religious links.

Both nations addressed the possibility of additional investment, particularly with reference to Thailand’s Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC) program, which intends to make the kingdom a center for industries like as aviation, logistics, biodiesel, and medical sciences.

Other topics of discussion were increasing Southeast Asia connectivity and collaboration in public health and national security.

Modi was also invited to the Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation meeting in August, in addition to a bilateral visit.

Thailand-India trade has been growing, with a 20% increase in volume to around US$16.5 billion between January and November of last year.
