As part of the government’s ongoing efforts to promote sustainable development and environmental conservation, Mr. Cheewaphap Cheewatham, Chief Inspector General of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, accompanied by Mrs. Patsara Kanchanaveera, Director of the Inspection Division, Government 2, embarked on an official inspection in the designated area of Krabi Province. This inspection aligns with the Ministry’s inspection plan for the fiscal year 2023, round 2, specifically focusing on the six provinces of Krabi, Trang, Phang Nga, Phuket, Ranong, and Satun.
The inspection took place at the Krabi Provincial Office of Natural Resources and Environment and aimed to monitor the operations of various agencies in the region. The officials leading the inspection included Mr. Nuwong Sangthian, Chief Inspector General of the Department of Marine and Coastal Resources, Mr. Meedet Charoenkitwabarak, Inspector General of the Department of National Parks, Mr. Pattipong Soonthornvara, Director of Krabi Natural Resources and Environment Office, Mr. Witsanu Jaengjai, Director of Marine and Coastal Resources Office 10 (Krabi), Mr. Somchai Nuchnanontthep, Director of Forest Resources Management Bureau 12, Krabi Branch, and a representative from the Bureau Administrative Conservation Area No. 5 in Nakhon Si Thammarat, along with other relevant officials.
During the inspection, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (MNRE) emphasized the importance of implementing the BCG Model, which stands for “A New Way of Life: B = Bio-Circular-Green Economy, C = Creative Economy, and G = Green Economy.” The MNRE urged the officials in Krabi Province to familiarize themselves with the BCG Model and encouraged them to develop a pilot community development concept aligned with this economic approach. The focus of this concept should be on enabling communities to engage in sustainable activities while incorporating innovative technologies in the production and development of community-based products.
Furthermore, the officials were tasked with supervising and coordinating the potential development project consultants from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand. Their responsibility involved preparing necessary information and plans to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in the province across all sectors, following the assessment guidelines. Additionally, close collaboration with the Thailand Greenhouse Gas Management Organization (TGO) was emphasized to establish a clear framework for inspecting the work of project consultants.
This official inspection serves as a crucial step in assessing the progress of environmental development projects in the region and ensuring compliance with sustainable practices. The Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment remains committed to promoting ecological conservation and driving economic growth through innovative and environmentally friendly approaches, ultimately fostering a harmonious coexistence between nature and communities in Thailand.
