Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin spearheaded the launch of an extensive volunteer campaign aimed at purifying the waterways throughout Bangkok, with a focus on 50 districts and 200 canals. This initiative coincides with the commemoration of the 72nd birthday anniversary of His Majesty King Rama the 10th this year.
Clad in the official volunteer uniform, comprising a yellow shirt, yellow scarf, and a blue cap, graciously bestowed by the royalty, the Prime Minister exemplified the unity between government officials and the public in carrying out social welfare duties and nurturing national pride.
In his address at the ceremony, Prime Minister Srettha articulated the noble vision of the King, emphasizing the importance of enhancing the well-being of the Thai people and ensuring the nation’s prosperous future. He underscored the project’s objectives, which include promoting societal harmony and cohesion, as well as establishing a pristine and secure environment for all citizens.
Central to this initiative are various activities such as debris removal, clearance of aquatic weeds, sidewalk painting and cleaning, and the beautification of canal surroundings, aimed at transforming them into safe communal spaces, particularly in the Phra Nakhon district. The success of the project hinges on the collective efforts of all sectors, bolstered by the dedication of volunteers and community members.
