Tiger Panic Grips Thai Village: Residents Shocked by Predatory Intrusion

Residents of Bang Pakong, Chachoengsao, were startled awake in the early hours of May 16 by the unexpected presence of a tiger cub prowling the streets, causing chaos and alarm among locals.

The incident unfolded around 3:30 am when authorities received reports of a tiger cub roaming in a residential area of Bang Pakong. Deputy Inspector Pongphop Kudhom and his team, along with the Chachoengsao rescue squad, swiftly responded to the scene located in Soi Bang Wua-Bang Jak 7 in Moo 11, Bang Wua Sub-district.

Upon arrival, they discovered a medium-sized tiger resting outside a home, much to the astonishment of the residents, including 23-year-old Thanapol, whose house the tiger was stationed in front of.

Efforts to coax the tiger away for safe capture were met with resistance, as the animal grew increasingly aggressive, biting several individuals, including a journalist covering the incident.

Despite attempts to subdue the tiger, it continued to resist, injuring rescue workers, police officers, and the journalist with its sharp teeth.

After a tense 10-minute ordeal, the rescue team successfully apprehended the tiger and transported it to the Regional Wildlife Conservation Office No. 2 (Si Racha) for further handling.

Eyewitnesses, such as 21-year-old Chayanan, recounted their harrowing encounters, emphasizing the urgency of the situation and the swift response required to ensure the safety of the community.
