Thailand and Barilla Discuss Pasta Production Expansion

Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin recently engaged in discussions with senior executives from Italy’s Barilla G.e.R. Fratelli S.p.A., the world’s foremost pasta producer, focusing on enhancing food production quality and expanding pasta distribution networks in Thailand. The meeting took place with Barilla’s Partnership Development President Federico Vescovi and Government Relations Manager Andrea Sorbello.

Barilla operates 30 production plants worldwide, including 10 mills across Italy, the United States, and other countries. Additionally, the company maintains a strategic sales office in Singapore, serving the ASEAN region, Japan, South Korea, and China. The talks aimed at exploring potential collaborations between Barilla and Thai companies, especially in producing ready-to-eat meals and expanding pasta distribution channels within Thailand.

Prime Minister Srettha emphasized the advantages of adopting high-quality production methods from Barilla, suggesting that such collaboration would elevate product standards for Thai consumers and enhance the overall quality and availability of food products in the region.

In response, Barilla representatives recognized Thailand as a prospective central hub for future production and export operations. They underscored Thailand’s strategic significance in their global plans, indicating strong potential for increased economic cooperation between the two parties.

Also in attendance were various officials and industry leaders, reflecting the high level of interest and support for this potential collaboration.
