Newborn Elephant Welcomed at Pattaya Nong Nooch Garden

On June, 2024, Pattaya Nong Nooch Tropical Garden celebrated the birth of a newborn elephant with a traditional Thai ceremony. Led by Phra Kru Kesem Kittisophon, head of Wat Samakkhi Banphot, the event included adorning the elephants with flower necklaces and applying white powder to their foreheads, a symbol of prosperity.

The baby elephant, named Plai Ong-Aat, was born on June 8, 2024, at 4:00 AM to his 29-year-old mother, Phang Susara Kam. This birth is notable as Phang Susara Kam has given birth to more than four calves this year alone, showcasing the fertility and health of the elephants under the garden’s care.

Mr. Kampol Tansajja, president of the garden, expressed his delight at the number of elephant births in 2024. He emphasized the garden’s commitment to providing exceptional care for their elephants. Currently, the garden is home to 78 elephants, and more births are expected throughout the year.

The ceremony was attended by various officials and guests, highlighting the significance of the event in Thai culture and the ongoing efforts to ensure the welfare and prosperity of the elephant population at Pattaya Nong Nooch Tropical Garden.
