On July 1, Mrs. Bed, a British national and teacher at an international school in Phuket province, accompanied by an interpreter, filed a complaint with Police Lieutenant Colonel Kittipong Nupheng, Investigation Inspector at Choeng Thale Police Station.
Mrs. Bed reported that she visited the Smart Tailor shop shortly before noon to order a dress. During the price negotiation with the shop owner, an argument ensued, culminating in the shop owner slapping her, causing her to fall to the floor in front of her children.
Following the incident, officials contacted the accused, identified as Mr. Daeng Phanupong, and proposed a meeting for reconciliation. However, Mrs. Bed declined the offer and insisted on legal action against Mr. Daeng. In response, the police summoned Mr. Daeng for questioning. He stated that he would meet with the investigating officer on July 4, as he was currently traveling upcountry and showed no signs of fleeing.
The police will conduct an interview with Mr. Daeng on the appointed date before reassessing the case.
