Police discovered decomposing human remains in a black plastic bag on an empty plot of land near a housing estate in the Bang Phra sub-district of Chachoengsao province. The remains are believed to belong to a missing Chinese woman and have been transported to the Police General Hospital in Bangkok for an autopsy and DNA testing.
The woman, reported missing earlier this month, was last seen on CCTV in Bangkok’s Sukhumvit-Asoke area around 5 pm on July 1. Footage captured her with a Chinese man who picked her up and drove away in a rented vehicle, according to Pol Maj-Gen Thiradet Thumsutee, commander of the Investigation Division of the Metropolitan Police.
Investigations revealed that Qingyan Ma, a Chinese man, rented the car on June 30 and returned it on July 3. Records show he departed Bangkok for Hong Kong on the same day. GPS data from the car indicated travel to a fish farm in Mueang district, Chachoengsao, leading police to suspect Ma’s involvement in the woman’s disappearance.
Pol Maj-Gen Noppasilp Poonsawat, deputy commissioner of the Metropolitan Police, reported that the location of the body aligns with CCTV evidence. The footage shows the rented car being driven by the man seen with the missing woman on July 1. The vehicle also stopped around 3 am on July 3 near the discovery site.
Witnesses saw a man exiting the car carrying an unidentified object, Pol Maj-Gen Noppasilp stated. Police investigators noted that the deceased had undergone breast augmentation and facial surgery, adding to the complexity of the case.
Officials continue to gather evidence and urge anyone with information to come forward as the investigation progresses.
