Krabi Workshop Strengthens Public Relations Against Corruption

On August 15, 2024, Somprachat Prapsongkhram, Deputy Governor of Krabi Province, presided over the opening of a workshop aimed at enhancing the knowledge and capabilities of the public relations network to combat corruption. The event, held at The Pineapple Hotel in Mueang Krabi District, was organized in response to the persistent issue of corruption, which continues to have far-reaching effects on the nation’s economy, society, and security. The initiative underscores the critical need for collective efforts in corruption prevention and suppression, with a strong emphasis on public awareness and participation.

Suda Ramphuengnit, Director of the Radio Broadcasting Station of Thailand in Krabi Province, highlighted the importance of this workshop in her opening remarks. She noted that corruption is a chronic problem that requires a multifaceted approach, involving all sectors of society. The workshop was part of a broader project funded by the National Anti-Corruption Fund (NACC Fund) and carried out by the Public Relations Office District 5, Surat Thani. The Radio Broadcasting Station of Thailand in Krabi, also known as NBT Krabi, was tasked with implementing the project to strengthen the public relations network’s role in combating corruption.

The primary objective of the workshop was to develop the capabilities of the NBT Krabi public relations network, enabling them to serve as a voice against corruption and unethical practices within the region. The workshop targeted a group of 25 participants, including media professionals, village and community public relations volunteers, and public relations officers from various government agencies in Krabi Province. These individuals form a network that collaborates with NBT Krabi in broadcasting and publicizing information across the region.

As part of the initiative, NBT Krabi will partner with the Krabi Provincial NACC Office to produce and distribute a radio program titled “Operation Anti-Corruption.” The program, set to air between August and September 2024 on NBT Krabi’s FM 98.5 MHz frequency, will consist of eight episodes broadcast every Wednesday and Thursday. The workshop also included a lecture on “Radio Programming Techniques and How to Produce Engaging New Media” delivered by the NBT Krabi team. Participants were divided into groups for practical sessions on creating radio spots, ensuring they could apply the techniques discussed.

It was reported that the workshop provided an important platform for collaboration and learning, with the ultimate goal of fostering a more informed and active public relations network dedicated to fighting corruption in Krabi Province.
