The Phueng Luang Asawin Foundation has unveiled an extensive project aimed at converting hundreds of rai in Huay Yai, East Pattaya, into a hub for sustainable agriculture. The announcement was made during a well-attended community forum held on September 8, 2024, where locals gathered to learn about the transformative plans for their area.
Mom Chao Pansawali Kitiyakara, who established the foundation, is leading this initiative designed to bolster local income through sustainable farming practices. The project will utilize several hundred rai of land for various agricultural purposes, including crop rotation, vegetable cultivation, and the growing of economic crops. A notable feature of the project is the allocation of 25 rai for a community market. This market will provide a direct selling platform for local farmers, thereby enhancing the region’s economic resilience and reducing the distance between producers and consumers.
In addition to the agricultural components, the project includes plans to upgrade public utilities within the land reform area. These improvements aim to elevate the overall quality of life for the residents and support the sustainable development of the region.
At the forum, Praphat Yangthara, along with notable figures such as Wirat Joyjinda, President of the Pattaya City Motherland Fund Network, and senior naval officers, underscored the importance of the initiative. Yangthara highlighted the project’s potential to foster a self-sustaining agricultural community that will benefit not only the local residents but the broader region.
The forum also featured discussions on sustainable agricultural practices to ensure the project’s long-term success. According to Pattaya Mail, participants engaged in productive conversations about implementing innovative farming techniques that align with the project’s goals.
In related developments, the Mae Moh Agricultural Community in Lampang province is also experiencing significant changes. The community is transitioning to modern, sustainable farming methods, with a focus on cultivating red oak, green oak, kale, cos, and frisée iceberg vegetables. This shift represents a move towards Smart Farming in the region, further reflecting the growing trend of sustainable agricultural practices across Thailand.
Additionally, Nong Yai Police Station in East Pattaya has adopted solar energy as part of its commitment to sustainability. The station has installed a 12-kilowatt solar system, significantly reducing its energy costs and setting an example for other public institutions in adopting green energy solutions.
Overall, these initiatives reflect a broader commitment to sustainable development and local economic improvement across various sectors in Thailand.
