Authorities in Ratchaburi have confirmed that the number of young students reportedly molested by a teacher at a school in Suan Phueng district has increased from nine to 17. The alarming revelations have prompted immediate action from educational officials, who have dismissed the teacher from his position.
Banjerd Unmaneerat, director of Ratchaburi’s educational office, stated that the teacher, who had transitioned from an assistant role to a full teaching position about two years ago, is now under police custody following complaints filed by concerned parents. The situation escalated as parents raised serious allegations and sought police intervention.
Among the victims, the youngest is just nine years old. This child exhibited concerning changes in behavior, with his parents reporting a notable reluctance to attend school. As investigations continue, parents of 12 students have officially lodged complaints regarding the teacher’s actions.
In custody, the teacher has reportedly confessed to having molested multiple students but could not ascertain how many overall nor confirm if the original nine students mentioned in the initial allegations were specifically among his victims.
The rise in reported cases has intensified scrutiny regarding child safety within educational institutions, fostering urgent discussions among community members and local officials alike about the need for protective measures to prevent such incidents in the future.
As the investigation unfolds, questions remain around oversight and accountability, stressing the importance of safeguarding young students in their learning environments.
