Blacktip Reef Sharks Spotted in Record Numbers at Maya Bay

KRABI — Over twenty blacktip reef sharks, including adults and juveniles, were observed feeding at Maya Bay on Sunday, according to officials from Hat Noppharat Thara-Mu Ko Phi Phi National Park. The sighting highlights the thriving shark population in the area.

An earlier survey conducted in April 2024 documented a record 280 blacktip reef sharks in the coral reefs of Maya Bay. This marked the highest count since monitoring began by the Thai Shark Research Team and the Department of National Parks, signaling a positive trend for marine conservation efforts in the region.
