Thaksin Shinawatra arrived in Ubon Ratchathani province on his private jet, contrary to earlier reports suggesting he would travel via AirAsia. The visit marked a significant campaign effort in support of a Pheu Thai candidate.
Upon landing at Ubon Ratchathani International Airport, Thaksin was greeted by a large crowd of supporters, many dressed in red, symbolizing their allegiance to the ruling Pheu Thai party. The father of Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra is lending his influence to Karn Kantinun, a former chief executive of the Provincial Administrative Organisation of Ubon Ratchathani, who is running for office.
Thaksin later visited the residence of Karn’s elder brother, Kriang Kantinun, a Pheu Thai party-list MP and former interior minister. The day’s agenda included a campaign rally at Ubon Ratchathani University, where Thaksin is expected to address supporters in a venue that can accommodate approximately 4,000 attendees.
Ubon Ratchathani has historically been a political stronghold for the Pheu Thai party, cementing its influence in the northeastern region.
