The Provincial Electricity Authority (PEA) has announced legal action against private firms and state enterprises illegally installing communication cables on its power poles.
The move follows directives from Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Anutin Charnvirakul, who instructed the PEA to address this longstanding issue.
PEA Deputy Governor Prasit Chanprasith highlighted the growing problem of unauthorized cable installations, driven by increasing demand for communication infrastructure. Many entrepreneurs have prioritized rapid business expansion, often exceeding the structural and safety limits of the PEA poles.
Mr. Prasit explained that the PEA has coordinated with relevant state agencies and private firms to resolve the issue, but unauthorized installations persist as the PEA cannot accommodate additional cables on its poles due to safety and capacity concerns.
The PEA’s intensified crackdown aims to ensure compliance and maintain the integrity of the electrical infrastructure.
