Krabi province has imposed a strict ban on open burning across all eight districts from February 1 to May 15, 2025, as part of efforts to reduce pollution and smog caused by PM2.5 dust. Governor Ang-angkun Silathewakul announced the measure under the Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Act, citing the heightened risk of forest fires and air pollution during the dry season.

The initiative was launched on January 3 with a public awareness campaign in front of Krabi Provincial Hall. Officials urged farmers, businesses, and residents to comply with the ban, emphasizing the environmental and health hazards of open burning. The provincial government has mobilized multiple agencies to enforce the regulations, including patrol teams, monitoring centers, and law enforcement officers tasked with preventing illegal burning.
Authorities have also intensified inspections of vehicles emitting excessive black smoke and industrial facilities that may contribute to air pollution. Violators will face strict legal action, with officials coordinating efforts to establish firebreaks in high-risk areas to prevent forest fires.

The provincial government is working closely with local administrative organizations, village leaders, and environmental agencies to implement these measures. A command center has been set up to oversee enforcement and respond to any escalation of pollution levels.
