Naomi Campbell Backs Thailand’s Fashion Soft Power Initiative

Supermodel Naomi Campbell has met with Thai officials to discuss strategies for strengthening Thailand’s Soft Power in the fashion industry. The meeting, held on February 10, focused on expanding career opportunities, particularly for young talent from rural and disadvantaged backgrounds.

Key discussions revolved around creating pathways for aspiring models, with a proposed initiative to identify and mentor local talent. Selected individuals would receive initial training from Thai professionals before advancing to international programs. Campbell, drawing from her extensive experience in global fashion, shared insights on improving industry accessibility and connecting Thai talent with international markets.

Although she will not hold an official ambassadorial role, Campbell will serve as a consultant, offering strategic guidance on Thailand’s fashion Soft Power development. Her involvement will include leveraging her global network and expertise to support training initiatives and industry collaboration.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Policy Advisor to the Prime Minister Dr. Surapong Suebwonglee, Minister to the Prime Minister’s Office Jiraporn Sindhuprai, and Deputy Minister of Interior Theerarat Samrejvanich, who oversees community development efforts.
