Pattaya Police Crack Down on Drug Use Following Public Complaints

On February 6, 2015, authorities in Pattaya launched a targeted operation to address rising concerns over drug abuse and related activities in the area. Following complaints from local residents about homeless individuals using drugs and burning garbage in residential areas, the Pattaya City Police, led by Pol. Col. Nawin Thirawit, Superintendent of Pattaya City Police Station, initiated an inspection and arrest operation in Soi Bongkot, Pattaya Tai, Nongprue Subdistrict, Banglamung District, Chonburi Province.

The complaints, which detailed the growing presence of drug addicts in the area and their tendency to set fires, had raised concerns about potential hazards to the community. In response, police officers moved swiftly, focusing on individuals matching the description provided by residents. Upon arriving at the scene, officers identified a suspicious person and conducted a urine drug test. The test results came back positive, with the individual’s urine turning purple, confirming drug use. The suspect admitted to the offense and was promptly taken to Pattaya City Police Station for further legal action.

This operation is part of an ongoing effort by the Pattaya City Police to enhance public safety by actively targeting areas known for drug activity. Authorities continue to conduct random checks and surveillance in high-risk locations to curb drug-related crimes and ensure a safer environment for the community.

Present at the operation were Pol. Lt. Col. Sirachart Nuthet, Deputy Superintendent of Investigation, Pol. Lt. Col. Pakorn Muensikhio, and Pol. Lt. Col. Apinan Boonyarat, all part of the Pattaya City Police team that led the operation.
