Authorities are preparing to extend the temporary free service of Motorway M6 from Hin Kong to the outskirts of Nakhon Ratchasima, covering a total of 168 kilometers, in time for the Songkran holiday. The move aims to ease traffic congestion on Mittraphap Road as travelers head to the northeastern region of Thailand.
On January 8, 2025, officials conducted an on-site inspection and held a meeting to assess the readiness of the new section. The current temporary service covers 80 kilometers from Pak Chong to Nakhon Ratchasima’s bypass. Once the extension is opened, motorists will have an uninterrupted route from Hin Kong through Saraburi, Muak Lek, and Pak Chong, totaling 168 kilometers.
The project is part of a government initiative led by Deputy Prime Minister and Transport Minister Suriya Jungrungreangkit to facilitate smoother travel during the peak holiday period in April. The additional stretch is expected to provide an alternative route for travelers and reduce congestion on the heavily used Mittraphap Road.
Officials overseeing the project include senior engineers from the Department of Highways, who are working to ensure the road is ready for public use. Further updates on the project will be provided in upcoming announcements.
