Authorities in Mae Hong Son conducted an inspection of a popular tubing rafting site on the Pai River to ensure compliance with safety and conduct regulations. The review follows previous complaints about disruptive behavior from tourists.
On February 21, 2025, at 3:30 p.m., officials from the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) Mae Hong Son Office visited Tipsy Tubing Pai, where over 500 foreign tourists were participating in the activity. The site featured additional entertainment such as music, body painting, and football. Inspectors noted that organizers had implemented clear signage and regulations prohibiting drugs, weapons, and fighting to minimize disturbances.
The inspection comes in response to past concerns over excessive drinking, littering, loud music, and inappropriate attire among some tourists after rafting. Authorities had previously intervened, instructing event organizers to adhere to agreed-upon guidelines to maintain order in the area.
Present at the inspection were Lieutenant Colonel Phanuwat Khatnak, Director of TAT Mae Hong Son Office, along with Deputy Director Ms. Chutiwan Takkaphum and project staff member Mr. Phongsakorn Phuengto.
