SUVARNABHUMI — A British man was prevented from jumping off an elevated roadway at Suvarnabhumi Airport after swift action by Thai police and the intervention of a Thai woman who assisted as a negotiator. The incident took place on the evening of February 21, 2025, and was later publicized through social media.
Authorities were alerted around 8:00 p.m. after reports emerged of a foreign man standing on the edge of Exit Route 1 of the airport’s elevated road system. Video footage of the rescue surfaced online on February 23, drawing public attention to the dramatic intervention.
Police Colonel Jakrapong Nuchpadung, Superintendent of Suvarnabhumi Airport Police Station, stated that officers arrived on the scene to find a 30-year-old British national, identified only as Mr. Bradley, appearing distressed and unresponsive to initial attempts at communication. To manage the tense situation, authorities cleared the area of bystanders and devised a plan to safely de-escalate the crisis.
A key turning point came when a Thai woman, fluent in English, stepped forward to assist. Engaging Mr. Bradley in conversation, she provided a crucial distraction while officers in an unmarked vehicle positioned themselves nearby. Seizing the opportunity, police swiftly intervened and restrained him before he could harm himself.
Following the rescue, Mr. Bradley was reported to be disoriented and provided inconsistent statements during questioning. The British Embassy was contacted, and his family has been informed. Officials have confirmed that arrangements are being made for his care.
