A Thai man has urged foreign tourists to exercise discretion and use hotels instead of engaging in public acts after he and his friends witnessed a couple having sex on Krating Lai Beach in Pattaya. The incident, which took place on the evening of February 22, was recorded and later circulated on Thai social media.
According to local media reports, the couple was engaged in the act on a rocky area of the beach, seemingly under the impression that the surrounding trees and rocks would provide cover. However, their loud noises attracted the attention of nearby beachgoers, including a group of Thai tourists.
An 18-year-old witness, identified as Bew, told PPTV HD that he and four friends were sitting among a crowd on the beach when they heard suspicious sounds. Concerned that someone might be in distress, they investigated and discovered a partially clothed foreign woman and her naked male companion engaged in sexual activity. Bew and his friends were taken aback by the public display, and one of them recorded a video. Despite realizing they had been seen, the couple continued before heading into the sea to wash off.
“This was shocking to me. I never expected to see something like this in a public place. They should use a hotel,” Bew commented in an interview.
PPTV HD noted that Krating Lai Beach has been the site of similar incidents in the past due to its quiet and dark surroundings at night. Although Bew and his friends did not report the matter to the police, legal experts indicate that, under Section 338 of Thailand’s Criminal Law, public indecency can result in a fine of up to 5,000 baht.
