King and Queen Open Queen Sirikit Garden in Bangkok

On February 25, 2025, His Majesty the King and Her Majesty the Queen officially opened the Queen Sirikit Garden in Chatuchak District, Bangkok. The garden, designed to meet the Botanic Gardens Conservation International (BGCI) standards, aims to be a significant addition to Thailand’s botanical landscape.

A key feature of the garden is the newly established “From Mountains to Rivers” Garden, which spans 26 rai of land. This garden was developed through the combined efforts of the Queen Sirikit Garden Foundation and the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration. It showcases a collection of saplings from trees that King Bhumibol and Queen Sirikit had planted throughout Thailand over the years. These trees are arranged to represent the diverse ecological regions of the country, stretching from the northern to the southern parts.

The opening ceremony, held in the presence of various dignitaries and officials, marks another milestone in the Queen Sirikit Garden’s development as a vital conservation and educational space. The garden is expected to promote environmental awareness and serve as a sanctuary for both local and international visitors interested in botanical preservation.
