Thailand and Qatar have signed an agreement to waive visa requirements for diplomatic and official passport holders, aiming to facilitate travel and strengthen diplomatic ties. The agreement was signed on March 3 in Doha by Thai Foreign Minister Maris Sangiampongsa and Qatari Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Sultan bin Saad Al-Muraikhi.
This initiative is expected to bolster cooperation between the two nations, allowing easier travel for government officials and reinforcing collaboration in foreign policy and regional security. In addition to signing the agreement, both ministers discussed developments in the Middle East, highlighting regional challenges and shared concerns.
During the talks, Maris also acknowledged Qatar’s role in securing the release of five Thai nationals from the Gaza Strip on January 30. Qatar has been actively engaged in diplomatic efforts related to humanitarian and security matters in the region.
The visa waiver is part of ongoing efforts to strengthen bilateral relations and expand collaboration between Thailand and Qatar. Diplomatic exchanges between the two countries continue to focus on key regional and international issues.
