Thailand Targets ฿690 Billion from Wellness Economy Growth

Thailand’s wellness industry is projected to generate 690 billion baht in economic value this year through increased collaboration between healthcare and related sectors, Public Health Minister Somsak Thepsutin announced on Tuesday.

The initiative focuses on fostering partnerships between innovators and investors to enhance the production and distribution of high-quality health-related products and services. These include pharmaceuticals, medical equipment, herbal products, and cosmetics. The Ministry of Public Health has outlined seven policies aimed at supporting strategic growth in the wellness sector, advancing traditional Thai medicine, promoting health tourism, and accelerating the development of medical equipment.

Regulatory amendments have been introduced to streamline product licensing, import certification, and advertising processes. Additional measures are being implemented to help entrepreneurs strengthen their market competitiveness, such as legal support, training programs, and the inclusion of locally made products in the National Health Security System.

As part of its international outreach, the Ministry of Public Health plans to showcase Thai health products at the Thailand pavilion during the World Expo in Osaka, Japan, next month. The initiative is supported by the Federation of Thai Industries, whose chairman, Kreingkrai Thiennukul, attended the announcement.
