Bangkok man throws girlfriend from condo, then jumps

A violent attack in Bangkok left a young woman and her boyfriend in critical condition after he allegedly strangled her, pushed her off a condominium rooftop, and then jumped himself. The incident, reportedly driven by jealousy, took place on Sunday, March 9.

Social media influencer Guntouch “Gun” Pongpaiboonwet revealed on March 11 that the victim’s 43-year-old mother had reached out to him for assistance. He accompanied the victim’s parents to Min Buri Police Station to follow up on the case.

According to the mother, her 21-year-old daughter had been in a six-month relationship with the man, though she had not informed her family. However, the attacker’s parents were reportedly aware of the relationship. The mother stated that she hoped the man’s family would acknowledge the incident and issue an apology.

A friend of the victim disclosed that jealousy was the motive behind the attack. About a month earlier, the boyfriend had allegedly discovered his girlfriend involved with another person, described as a tomboy. In response, he reportedly assaulted the tomboy in his condo room before turning on his girlfriend. CCTV footage captured him carrying her unconscious body to the rooftop of the five-story building, where he pushed her off before following suit.

The victim suffered broken ribs, a fractured leg, and lung injuries, while the attacker’s condition was reported to be more severe. The condition of the third individual involved was not disclosed.

Authorities at Min Buri Police Station have announced their intention to charge the man with attempted murder. However, they will wait for his medical condition to stabilize before proceeding with legal action. If convicted, he faces up to 20 years in prison under Thai law.
