Man Killed by Wild Elephant in Suspected Hunting Incident

A man was found dead in Prachinburi Province in what officials suspect was an encounter with a wild elephant, authorities said recently. Evidence at the scene, including a rifle-mounted camera and prior records, has led investigators to believe the victim may have been involved in illegal hunting.

Authorities in Prachinburi Province, eastern Thailand, are investigating the death of a man who was apparently trampled by a wild elephant. The incident occurred in a forested area where human-wildlife conflicts have been previously reported.

According to local police and wildlife officers, the body was discovered with clear signs of trauma consistent with an elephant attack. A camera attached to a hunting rifle was found nearby, raising suspicions that the man may have entered the forest to illegally hunt wildlife.

Further background checks revealed that the deceased had a prior record involving wildlife offenses. This has strengthened the working theory among investigators that the man may have come into fatal contact with the elephant during a poaching attempt.

Wildlife authorities have noted an increase in illegal hunting activities in the area, particularly as forest access becomes easier during the dry season. They continue to warn the public about the dangers of entering protected areas without proper authorization.

Officials from the Department of National Parks, Wildlife and Plant Conservation, along with local police units, were among those responding to the scene and overseeing the recovery effort.
